If it is warm I don't think there is any way to keep them fresh---especially for 16 hours. In colder weather (early spring or fall) it may be possible. I think I read in the BWJ how the owner harvested some walleyes in the morning and put the fillets on ice he had left over and then portaged them out, but that was for only a 4-6 hour trip not 16 hours. I think anything over that and your going to get some spoilage--thus wasting some good fish. Just enjoy them while your up there IMHO.
Also remember to check your regs on fish transport. I believe the fillets need to have some of the skin on so they can be readily identified as to what species you have in case the DNR stops you--if not they can fine you.
