Does anyeone have any info on fishing Knife Lake and the south arm? We have planned a trip for June 6th to the 13th. We will be going through the moose lake entery point and going through Birch Lake, and Carp Lake on our way to knife Lake. I think we are most interested in Walleye and Pike. Does anyone have any tips; spots, lures, colors, etc. Any info about Lake Trout would be helpful too. Also I would greatly appreciate any other helpful tips about this area.
I JUST GOT BACK IN FROM KNIFE YESTERDAY. WAS ON KNIFE FOR FIVE DAYS DIDNT HAVE A SINGLE HIT ON ANY LURE, PLUG, OR EVEN ON LEECHES. COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. HAD TO LEAVE CAMP TWO DAYS EARLY TO BEING HUNGRY. NO FISH NO FOOD. THE SCENERY WAS NOT LIKE I EXPECTED ONCE I GOT OUT OF SNAKE RIVER I DID NOT SEE BUT A COUPLE STANDING TREES THE REST OF THE TRIP IN. NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!
Our group is going to Fourtown this year, hoping to live on Walleye and dip a fly for some big smallies. We have been going up for several years now but have avoided the Eastern side of the BWCA due to the fire restrictios resulting from the blowdown in '99. We have never worried about catching enough to eat. Next year we were planning to travel up the south arm of the Knife since the burn ban has been lifted. How bad is the fishing? Has anyone else had trouble boating fish for long stretches of time?
