Hello there

I'll be heading to the BWCA for the 2nd time in a few weeks... wondering what the best method/s are for catching lake trout?

Thanks
Tom

A method that works for me is to "troll" a silver and black floating rapala behind me with a bottom bouncer a few feet in front of it. Early season to mid-early June the trout will be fairly shallow as aposed to normal... 15 f.o.w.

Thanks for the info... a bottom bouncer? I know of many kinds of sinkers, with many different names..never heard of that one b4...more specific??

And what size rapala do you use... I'm thinking of bringing my ultralight w/6lb test..should be ok, right?

Thanks

Any type of snag free weight should do. I've always called them bottom bouncers (usually a wire extending off of it to keep it off the bottom)

The size, I've alway kept them down in the 4 inch range... two treble hooks... jointed are nice.

6lb will be fine, I usually use 8 but that's cause I like to throw on a spoon from time to time with some leader and go for those aggressive mouths full of teeth... what do they call them? oh yeah... pike.

Good luck
I'm getting excited... less than a month now! for me.
