The guy earlier asking about them is my Bro', we're coming up second week of June with Dad and our favorite cousin (first time).

Anyway, there are lots of different kinds of gitzits at my local tackle shop. What's best?

Tube jigs? what size?
Big Blue Eyes?
Paddle Tails?
Spider Jigs?
Little Tough Guys?
Bully's?

Man I can't figure out what to bring???

Any help appreciated,
Dan

Dan,
There are hundreds of different types, sizes, and variations of gitzits. Two years ago I caught smallmouth, and some walleye on Gitzits that were 3 inch smoke color with red flake with salt added. Generally a crawdad color, brown or green is good also. Usually the 2.5 to 3 inch ones are best. I have used them everywhere from Minnesota to Texas and caught fish on them. They are my favorite smallmouth bait. The Gitzits I use are not name brand but sold in bulk for around .30 each. I know it is hard to decide sometime when there are so many choices, but if you have a favorite soft plastic bait company and they make a gitzit go with it. If not, buy several kinds and try them out locally before you go to the BWCA. I know when I put in the BWCA on the 21st of June I will be carrying around 50 of them with me. Another thing to try is a Bass Assassin Fluke, or a 3x Zulu I will have several of those with me as well. Good fishing.

I have the following page bookmarked on bass fishing:

http://www.bassresource.com/features/gitzits_bass.html

I would shoot for a darker green or brown color depending on what the cover colors are - rocks, weeds,...
