I have often thought of what would a meal contain which you could consume every day for every meal and still get your necessary vitamins, minerals, protien, carbos, and lipids. I believe I have come up with this and in a form applicable to the BWCA. I have been eating this for the past two months and so far it is unbelievably great. So for anyone who does not care to eat things which taste good but only eat for the calories here is the food.
First you need a base of vitamins and minerals and average multi vitamin will work however I use a special mix for people who are more active which in the BWCA you would be. Then find a whole wheat grain in powder form (You could just grind up a cereal if you cant get powder). This is your carbs, I generally use about 1-2 grams per pound of body weight a day. Then for the protien just get a standered protien powder, whey, casien, or egg. I use about .6-1 gram per pound of body weight a day. Then to finish it off get powdered flaxseed. The amount of flaxseed I usually use will round off a days calories to 2500 or 3000 depending on what I did that day. Then I seperate the mix into 6 packs for my meals throughout the day. I will mix each pack with about 2 cups of water. This tastes really bad so people who prefer taste do not try this.

Why would you want to eat/drink that mixture? What is the benefit vs. food that tastes good?

It takes less room in the packs, you dont need a fire to prepair it, just water, also you will always be eating healthy food. It is also adjustable to how many calories you burn during the day wheather you would want to gain, lose, or maintain weight.

Guess it all depends on ones definition of ''ultimate''. My definition of ultimate is a 60/40 ratio of lakers & walleyes. They take no room in my foodpack and taste much better. BTW, I don't have to mix them with water.

Where do you purchase your ingredients? How much does it cost per
day? Could you spice it up to taste better, or maybe a little
sweetener? Thanks!

I get the flaxseed, protien, vitamins at a GNC the grain I get at a grociery store, as far as price it all depends. How much will you have a day, how much will you purchase at once, with the health store things the prices go down pretty well when things are purchased in bulk also you can get discount cards. I will spend about 90-120 dollars a month. However, if you were to get a regular multi-vitamin from a store it would cut the cost by about 40 dollars a month. As far as sweetening, I have no idea. You can really only find the protien in flavors like chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and they are all pretty strong flavors then mixed with your whole wheat is a combonation that i would be surprised if you could find a non-sugar sweetner that helps that taste. Although, there could be something that would do it.

Old salt- I agree that being able to consistently catch fish and be self sufficiant in that respect would be ideal, however me not being the best fisherman must look to other means for calories. So ultimate for me is the last food source which I will have to worry about.

What was your body's reaction? I am trying it
for breakfast and lunch. I am using whole grain
flour, flax seed powder, and whey protein powder.
Is it the flaxseed that gives it a weird after
texture? Was your stomach shaky at first?
Thanks! MTM

I suppose how your body reacts and how your stomach can handle it would depend on your previous diet habbits. For me I did not have any real noticable adverse affects on my stomach or otherwise, but I never really have many problems with my stomach eating anything. Im not sure what you mean by after texture but I bet you could get rid of it by a little more water to wash it down. I end up drinking over a gallon of water a day with this meal trying not to taste it too much. As much as i dont worry about taste, I still have taste buds.

Its great to hear there is another person trying this and I hope you have as much luck with it as I did.

I think you aftertaste problem comes from the fact that you used Wheat FLOUR when the recipe called for Whole Wheat Grain POWDER (like ground cereal). Of course you'll have a weird aftertaste and feel, flour is a thickening agent and would make it pasty and gross.

Actually I have tried it with flour as well and I found its tastes equal to if not better than strait protien drink as long as there is enough chocolate protien mix in the mixture. As for the paste if you add more water it becomes a good liquid. I have found the more chocolate protien mix, the better it tastes although that cuts more into the wallet.
