Question: My kid is getting into some of the bushcraft stuff and I want to get him a decent knife to work with. I do not want to turn him loose with my good knives. I hear Moras are great knives with a huge following. Anyone have any experience? They are very popular with the bushcraft guys. They are cheap and ugly but they seem to hold and edge well and sharpen easily. Anyone have real experience with them?? Best way to sharpen a scandi grind??

I have heard good things about the mora's. I don't personally have any experience with them. A couple of years ago my brother gave me a Helle knife wich is similar to the mora's. Here is a link to a little info on the mora's Ragweed forge I am pretty sure Kanoes has one of the mora's. There is a lot of info on the Blade forums web site. I will post a link but I don't know if you can access it with out becoming a member. Blade forums mora search

I have had the classic Mora for years, but don’t use it in the wild. Guess that I could but it’s my bench knife that I have had since I went to Gunsmithing School many years ago.

Have used it many times for outline a part to be inletted or cutting open a package. Holds a pretty good edge.

whiteh20; Mora Knifes are a great value, but I'd like to suggest something a little more traditional, Helle 4 FjellKniven

""Best way to sharpen a scandi grind??" Sharpen the full flat of the grind. You remove much more width but have excellent support as you hone.

butthead

PS; sharpining scandi knifes bh
