Does anyone know anything about the history of this cabin on Crooked Lake? It is in a cove just past Lower Basswood Falls.

I believe its a DNR cabin, to hold their gear (changing latrines and fire grates). I've seen it, touched it, and cared little beyond that.

What does the notice on the door say? Looks like a USFS sign.

That is actually not the cabin, but the boathouse that went with the cabin. The cabin was up in the woods, and it was burned down (arson) back in the 1990s. There were suspicions, but no proof, as to who did it.

The sign says "Property of THE UNITED STATES'. Under that there is some fine print that I cannot read in the photo.

What Kevlar said. It is a Forest Service building.
