Mike,
Check out the interactive map function and click on each campsite. I was in the area the last two summers, and from what I saw, there wasn't one that was bad at all. Most were quite good as far as the BW goes. Even the southernmost site, #1870 on Friday Bay is good.

We came up from the Boot-Fairy-Gun chain and went back by way of Basswood and Horse River.

I envy you, I could go back again, but the posse says to mix it up a little.

US or Canada side?

There is a nice one on West bank about halfway down. If coming from the west or northwest, it would be first on right heading outh from main lake. It faced the southeast.Big open site with decent landing.
good smallies.

It's just around the first little point on the right coming down the west shore. We had a breeze from the SE and not a bug on the place!

Yes, look at the interactive map for comments. Between friday and Thursday there are also two campsites, both I have stayed at. The one on the "question mark" island east end is a big, open site, easy landing for large group, poor/no hanging options, not much shade.

The one on the peninsula near there is a nice but small, two tent site, good landing on east side, easy hanging options, shade.

We have always stayed at the site in Friday Bay. The site on the West bank half way down. You can see it glimmering when you enter into Friday Bay. One solid sloping rock resembles a beach. I really like it but it does have drawbacks. No real shade to speak of, quite open to the weather too. Okay tent pads 2 maybe 3. One of my favorite sites for some reason I'm still working on.

the two sites on the big island that big current runs around are both nice.

The campsite on the bottom of Friday bay is a 1 star. The two on the left side are good.

I paddled down Friday Bay last summer on my way out and stopped by each campsite to check them out. Funny thing: One of the campsites was recently vacated. They left hot, smoldering coals in the fire pit and fish guts on the rocks in camp. Very sad. Who are these people?

On our way out of Crooked last summer, we scored the campsite closest Basswood Falls. Yep, you got it, smoldering coals. Second time on that trip too.
