I thought I'd try to get us discussing books again. What are y'all reading as winter begins to bear down?

I don't have any unread non-fiction in my pile right now, and would welcome any suggestions!

I have just started reading "The final Frontiersman". It's about Heimo Korth who is a subsistence trapper up in Alaska. It's a loaner that started with Boppa. Have you heard of it?

That is such a great book! I read it this fall, right after "Into the Wild"...it made a good companion book. Kind of like the right and the wrong way to go about living off the land. I really enjoyed it.

Read 'The Final Frontiersman' a few years ago-really enjoyed that. Saw 'Into the Wild' a few weeks ago. Read it a few years ago so some details a little sketchy. I was a little disappointed with the movie and I'm not sure why. Too romanticized? Too long? It sure was hyped in the media.

As far as current reads, just finished 'Alaska Wilderness' by Bob Marshall. Just started 'Farthest North' which is about the quest to reach the North Pole by various people over the past 400 years. Both good.

I would agree with you regarding the right and wrong ways to live in Alaska. The difference is in the personalities and psyche's of the main characters. All in all, both are great reads.

"Remember, the fun never stops!"
