Anyone have a suggestion for a CNF base camp/camping option for a long family weekend? I'm think Clubhouse near Martell(?) which has had good recommendations and is a nice campground nestled in hard/softwoods on edge of the lake with pretty good fishing. Any other ideas? Thinking May ...if it ever decides to quit snowing!

North Star is outstanding. Also, there are 100's of free campsites up there. You just need to pick up a map at the ranger station in Marcell

Thanks Cindy! Did I mis-spell the town? My eyesight is going! There is a welcome/visitor center that I've stopped in before...very helpful folks and picked up a map of the national forest. Thanks for the recommendations though -- looks great with lots of options.

I uploaded the maps they gave me, and put them in the canoeing other places forum. I couldn't scan in the biggest one, so if you go to the ranger station make sure ask for the "sharing our secrets" map
