I'm about 90% in at this time. This will probably be my only chance to make a MN wingnight, things can always go wrong but I am making plans to be there. I'll be happy to pay upfront and then whatever happens, happens.
OK, I read the whole thing this time. Just me, camping

If Max is going to be there I guess I'll have to make an appearance. Sounds like a good spot. I need to take time out to paddle a bit and then a good campout to round it out...

My weekend to work! Pissy-darn!
Joy is a great teacher, but so is dispair. Wonder is a great teacher, but so is confusion. Hope is a great teacher, but so is disillusionment. And life is a great teacher, but so is death. To deny yourself any of those in any aspect is not experiencing life totally.

I'm at a serious disadvantage in regard to preparing some sort of ethnic southern dish. All I have with me is my camp cook set. Once we get a good estimate on the attendance I'll order some pulled pork barbecue from Rendezvous, and some sauce. Pretty sure they have buns in Iowa.

quote dblwhiskey: "Do they allow pop up campers there or is it only for tents?"
It's a group camp drive-in and I'm sure they are allowed in the park.
I drove my Van size RV in one spring. Others have brought small trailers.
But you will see a lot of people using the tents they use in the BWCA. It is nice if you are thinking of buying some new gear to be able to see what other people are using and get first hand reviews. Some of us are real gear junkies! lol

Yeh, actually it would. I could do some red beans and rice or some jambalaya or something. Let me re-plan this and we'll talk about it more.

I have it on good authority that pop up campers are allowed, there are actually 3 lakes to canoe on, one is non motorized. There are only 2 outlets for electricity at the barn. I'm pretty sure I'm off that weekend but if I do have to work for those of you who know, I'll still be there.

Good to know there are only two outlets! we don't want to end up with a bunch of crock-pots for the potluck!

Hope everyone has a great time. I know Aurora will miss huntin' frogs & Housty9's "puppy". :)

Unfortunately we will miss this one. Will be car camping with another family at Kathio. Really enjoyed the Spring one though and will look for the 'indoor' wing-nite gatherings whenever they are next up on the calendar.

Nuts, I too will have to miss this event as in the fall I am a picker at Baker Orchard in Centuria Wisconsin. That is the weekend of their art festival and it will be "all hands on deck". It would have been nice meeting those who share my passion for the BWCA. Another time perhaps...can't make it tonight as I just got out after a very, very fine solo and am on the shore with my wife. Thank you to those who take the time to set the events up.
Never better, attitude is a choice.

So, Shannon comes home the other day and says 'due to her re-bid we'll have to put our anniversary vacation off by a week'. so, that means I should be able to make some of the fall wingding! Sweet!

Wow! Some big names that I have not met yet but want to meet are going to be there. Plus there's the great people I've already met.
I'm a maybe but definitely hope I can make it. Depending on my wife's work schedule I'm going to attempt my first BWCA solo either the last weekend of Sept. or first weekend of Oct. Best case scenario would be trip first weekend of Oct. so I can make the Wingnight. Then maybe someone would let me try out their solo canoe and yell at me about all the things I'm doing wrong so I'm ready for the next weekend. I've never been in a solo canoe so it would be nice if the first time wasn't on my trip.

OK, I got my time off approved so I'm at 99%. Still just me, camping, still don't have the food nailed down.

Ha ha!!! :) I'm showing restraint so far and keeping it a solo. Last years "most likely" turned into a tandem because a coworker just had his position cut, his yearly trip partners bailed on him, and it was the first year he wasn't going to do a trip. I could tell he was very depressed so asked him if he wanted to go with me. I keep repeating ..."don't ask anyone to go" "don't ask anyone to go"

As far as the RSVP...
I have to work Friday and Sunday evening so those days are out.
Saturday night I have a party to attend for a friend coming into town.
So the only part of the wingnite I could possibly attend is the daytime potluck portion on Saturday.
I will know more once I talk with my out of town pal re; her schedule/plans.

As usual, it was a great time. Met some new people and touched base with old friends. Lots of canoe and route talk. My son (spanky as trix would call him) and I got home about an hour ago and we're all unpacked and watching the packers/bears.
We're already looking forward to next fall's wingnight. Maybe I can convince Mrs. Barley to come next year.

Had a great time as usual. Thanks to the committee for all your hard work. Was fun to talk paddling with hobbydog, lars, fog51 and others. Was fun to see Izzy, Butthead and AndySG who came from the east and nice to see Zulu who came down from Ely. Several new faces to Wing Night including Maxxbhp who tells many a good joke. In Izzy court it was decided not to do a spring wing night in the cities... I'd encourage anybody that can to plan trips and whatever around next September. It is a great time! Welcome odan to the website and eOar... Man! There was a lot of people... Canoearoo has an awesome family... It's good to see kids with bwca.com t shirts. :) The only disappointment was our phone call to Suncatcher didn't work out so no hog call.

Cindy - you're kids were great, and so well behaved! Good to finally meet you and your hubby. Maybe next year we'll bring our grand kids!
And thanks for the tent sleeping advice you gave my wife.
Who had the SR Deep Creek there? Sharp boat! I wish we could have talked.
And I missed BeaV! I would love to see his movie someday.

Thanks to everyone involved with this September's Wingnight. Everything was great. The people, the food, the weather, the location with the Barn and the prizes donated by Adam. I enjoyed every minute of it. I hope for another next year, same time and place.
My favorite part was meeting and playing with AndySG's Beagle Lucy.

I snuck in and left under the cover of darkness Saturday...so I regret I didn't have much time to meet new folks. I enjoyed hearing some other people's stories this time especially the one about "the guy who got lost in the Quetico". I won't name names, though :)

Had a great time! Thanks for the committee for putting this together again. It was great to see some old friends again and to meet new ones!
It's a beautiful campsite and hope we will be there again for next fall.
Someone left this pumpkin laying around so I had to do something to it!

Nice Ducks...I wish I had me a dog to take on trips.

Sure glad we had our wingnight campout last weekend and not this weekend. A little wet and windy for sure. However, with the nice barn we had for the potluck and shelter we would have been just fine. We would have just had to bring more layers and the rain gear.
I have been so darn busy with work that I have not taken the time to post on here. Great to see all the wonderful old and new faces of our awesome group! Thanks everybody for all the wonderful food everybody provided, great fellowship (including the great jokes around the campfire) and , Adam for his donations and for bringing us all together as a Family!
Looking forward to seeing many more of you at our next wingnight or mini wingnight, whichever the case may be!
