Hi guys, I'm sniffin around for an UQ, wondering about options for my NX-150. Are they a universal fit? For you Clark owners, any recommendations? Thanks!

I got the Hammock Gear Incubator 20 for my NX 150 and flat out could not be happier.
I actually can't wait for it to warm up some here in Northern Minnesota just so I can go back to sleeping outdoors.

Thanks Karl, I appreciate the suggestion. I've looked at the Incubator 40. I've thought the 20 is more than I need. Do you use the 20 all year round? Not many Clark owners out there it seems. I love mine...

I just got my Clark fully set up at the beginning of September, so do not yet have a full year of use.
I do live in northern Minnesota, so "all year round" is out of the question - for me.
I got the 20 degree with extra down added.
Probably too hot for even the coolest of summer evenings.
I will soon get the 40 degree before soft water gets here.
And a top quilt.
I have a nice sleeping bag but it's just too much "stuff" for in the hammock.
A top quilt is a bit more streamlined for hammock use.

OK, I got mine just a couple of years ago, so still learning. I was mostly wondering if you used the 20 in the summer. I'm a fairly warm sleeper, so will probably go with the 40. I'm sticking with my sleeping bag for now, start with the UQ.

I live in northern MN too, haven't done a winter hang yet. Hoping today is our last cold day... Thanks again. I like your knives, works of art.

Well, I am a proud owner of a Hammock Gear Incubator 20! Would love to try it out this weekend, but it's been monsoon season up here as of late. I need to get it set up before my trip on the 3rd, any tips would be appreciated... thanks

For my Clark NX-150 I use a Coleman 3 in 1 Poncho for my underquilt. I just hang the hammock and then sort of rig the poncho underneath it. It's nothing fancy, but it does the job nicely. I also always bring a sportsman's space blanket with rip stop on one side and I rig that around the outside of the poncho when it's going to be very cold. It's a good system, and it was cheap to assemble.

I know I'm chiming in kind of late, but I have the camo NX-250 and have been very satisfied with the Z-liner that Clark offers as an underquilt solution.

I have the older model 250 (purchased 4 years ago) where the Z-liner is actually a set of 7 insulated pads that velcro in place within the pockets that exist below the hammock bed. I imagine the one piece Z-liner sold to fit the newer 250 would perform better as there aren't the small "voids" that exist between the pockets of mine. The 270 is the most recent upgrade, in which the pockets are accessible from inside the hammock, a nice feature that I wish I had on mine.

So, with that said, I've used my NX-250 stock with the Z-liner pads and a 10 degree down sleeping bag in temperatures as low as the low 20's with no problem at all. I was skeptical of the z-liner at first, and it's a bit pricey for what you get (someone with the time and skill could easily make their own), but I researched on Hammock Forums and heard good feedback on their performance into that mid-20 temp range. What I like is that I can leave my z-liner pads in place when I take the hammock down and pack it as one unit into the compression sack (granite gear 22 liter). It goes up and down real nice and quick. I do sometimes "fluff" the z-pads and ensure they're not bunched up from time to time. Another point here - you can easily purchase some "Climashield" insulating material at "ripstopbytheroll" and augment the z-liner with that if you're concerned about staying warm.

So, that's the set up I use exclusively when I solo in spring and also fall, and it's worked very well for me. At some point, to satisfy the "gear junky" in me, I will purchase another hammock that allows one to lay on more of a diagonal than the Clark does (the ONLY negative point with a Clark in my opinion) and at that point I will purchase a down underquilt. Hammock Gear makes great gear as does UGQ (Underground Quilts) from my experience. Plus, I want to extend my season and expect to camp in colder temperatures, and I believe the Clark is at it's practical limit right now.

Have fun!

Very happy with the HG Incubator 20. Very easy to set up, kept me warm as a bug in a rug. We had a very rainy afternoon/night. Spent many hours in the hammock waiting it out, reading and sleeping. Very warm and comfortable...

Thanks Hoaf and BrownLeader, I've looked at both DIY and the z-liner. Ultimately decided to go with the HG, good reviews and recommendations....

Good deal.
That combination will almost spoil you for sleeping anywhere else.

I've been telling my ground sleeping bros and buddies that. It's more comfortable than my bed at home. I wouldn't tell my wife that though...:)
