Ozark Paddler & Friends, I need a recommendation for a 1-day float the last week of July. My family will be vacationing near Branson and I want to sneak out for a weekday float with two of my boys. I'm not sure on the water levels but am looking at the Buffalo, North Fork, Eleven Point, or Current. The Buffalo is only 1 hour away but may be too low. I solo'd the upper sections of the Current, Jack's Fork, and Big Piney back in March, but looking for a more relaxed float since my 20 year old has severe autism. I may just rent a canoe this time, rather than haul one around all week.
Buffalo below Tyler Bend is always floatable The others are too far for a day trip IMO Check with an outfitter in St Joe for water levels. Baker Ford to Tyler is good There is a livery in Gilbert too
Thanks, that is a good point. I don't mind leaving at 4AM to be on the water, but I'm hoping to have some of the kinfolk join me. We've floated Beaver Creek before, which is close, but it's not a big improvement over these Iowa rivers.

sorry, missed a lot lately. Wish I'd seen your post sooner. Feel free to e-mail me as I'm on the Current et al most weeks of the year.

Ozark Paddler, Thanks, I will remember that. We ended up touring the Pea Ridge Civil War Battlefield, instead of canoeing the Buffalo. My high school graduate loved it and I can enjoy the Buffalo after he has moved on in life.
