I was going to rate a couple of campsites on Robbins Island at Knife and couldn't find the campsite on the map. Heck I couldn't even find the island! What's up with that, they were there last time I checked?

They are there, Lake Maps, Knife, imagery.

Several of the map displays show little to nothing, topographic drops islands but shows the POI's.

Found a hack to make it always default to "imagery"?

In the maps section here there is a drop down that has 9 different ways to view the maps.

That I get. Was hoping for a way to change default, which seems not very useful.

I do not see the drop down you folks are referring to. I am using Chrome; would that make a difference, or am I just that daft?

Edit: Never mind, found the drop down.

I know the site is BWCA.com but why don't we have maps for Quetico in the maps section?

Because all the maps you see were drawn by the US government not Canada.

So there are not public domain Quetico maps?

I'm just seeing other sites with maps of Quetico on them and they are not Canadian websites. So I don't see why we could not have Quetico maps on here.

Actually, I now seem to recall the portage and campsite data that many of us use may not be in the public domain. I just rely on other sites for mapping.

Make sure you are signed in. If not you won't see the info that others have posted. I had to remember my password the first time I entered the updated site.

Did you mean to reply to my post on the PCD - which was Azela's database that use to be on QJ? I see the BWCA data here just fine.

I can't figure out how to see the maps in your post for other areas. Is that Google Earthh or do I access something on this site? I see other maps but not the ones with a black background for water.

If you go to a map, you should see a box just below the lower left of the map. By default it says "topographic". Click that and a menu or lust should appear and second from bottom is "imagery". Click that and backgrounds will be like in but threads post.

PS- this is for entry point maps and lake maps, not the historic or two village Street maps.

The header says "Boundary Waters and Quetico Online Maps" and in fact, if you zoom out from a border lake for example, the map is there. There are no portages nor campsites, but a few - like less than 10 - points of interest/photos. Could it be because there are no Quetico - northside - outfitters advertising?

Maybe need to re-title the header and eliminate the Quetico part.
