Like this site hasn't helped me spend money already!!!!
I am getting a bit of inheritance from my father. Per my wife's recommendation, I am going to spend some on me; my wife is wonderful. So, I am going to spend some on canoe/camping gear (is there anything else!). I have everything I think I need and I have good quality except for bulky rain gear, older aluminum pots, and heavy 4 man tents (I do have a lean 3+ and a Taj 3).
I'll get another ZRE, I have a recreation model, so there goes $300
I need better (lighter?) cook wear, less bulky rain gear, lighter 4 man ?, ...
CCS cover for my Magic?

Big Agnes Copper Spur UL 4 tent; simply wonderful!
MSR Alpine 4 Pot Set. It is stainless steel, so it works well on stoves and fires.
Arc'Teryx Beta rain gear. Expensive, but it should be the last you ever need.
Enlightened Revelation Quilt. I will never use a sleeping bag again.
Nemo Cosmo mattress pad.
CCS Tarp.

Some thoughts. First, sorry for your loss. Second, as much as I love gear, it's merely a means to an end. It's always part of some larger plan or some particular place I want to go or thing that I want to do. I'd take some time to think about what in particular it is that you want to do, or what particular types of new adventure you might accomplish that you cannot now, before jumping in and just getting a bunch of nice stuff. Think big - maybe you are better off spending the money on a once in a lifetime guided trip. Plus, never hurts to wait for a sale!

NotLife, I am with you. We, my wife and I, are going to use a big chunk for a trip we have talked about. Right now a trip to the Galapagos is the front runner. My wife's suggestion was just to do something for me. I had been thinking of a big trip for us and several projects around the house. The bit I am taking will not affect the other things. I am also fairly good at waiting. I will get the ZRE pretty quick as we plan to explore some local waters.

Frenchy has a good wish list.
Upgrading the rain gear could be done pretty easily, I just upgraded jackets this weekend with the last one in my size on a 50% off rack. (Mtn Hardware)
Do you need a 4 person tent? Lots of options there, or you could get 2 two person's or something. Pots and pans would be a very nice upgrade as well, I'm still with the hand-me-down aluminum.

I have a lot of CCS equipment, including tarps, so I am good there. Travel has always been an important part of our life. I've been to all 50 states, all but 2 (Nevada and Hawaii) 2x . I do like the idea of a fly-in camp/fish trip, and Alaska would be high on that list, along with Labrador. I am "leaning" towards Frenchy on the 4 man tent issue, although my wife will never use the Lean to sleep in because snakes can crawl in (you will never convince her otherwise). Outside of the ZRE, the rain gear is at the top of the list. I've thought about an inTouch, but I want to see what new models they may offer down the road. I have also looked at JetBoils, I have good stoves, but those seem like they would be pretty nice on solo trips.

I got an InTouch this year, and I like it. Easy to use, and you can select monthly subscriptions to meet your needs rather than a flat out annual plan. Sounds crazy, but my favorite new purchase this year is Dan's CCS tarp stuff sack that has a grommet in the end. With this, I can keep the ridgeline always attached and the tarps never hit the ground.

If you are maxed out on CCS gear then I am with Frenchy (that seems to happen A LOT).....
Arcteryx rain gear (I went with the discontinued Theta LT on Ebay)
Big Agnes Copper Spur UL4 tent
Have you ever thought about converting to hammock camping? That's a great way to spend a lot of money......

Unshavenman - I already am into the hammock life. I have a Jacks R Better bridge and an Amok. My son is currently using the Amok in the South Fork Recreation Area on the KY/TN border. He wanted to try it out before getting one for himself. You are correct, lots of ways to spend money in hammocking.

If you are looking at a Jetboil, also check out the MSR Reactor.
For rain gear, there are some great air permeable fabrics now. One fabric to consider is Polertec Neoshell - High air permeability and a bit of stretchiness. I got a Westcomb Apoc and I really love it.

May need another thread but,
Frenchy, you mentioned In Touch. Curious about this, as I thought it was a fleet tracking system primarily commercial use based.

Ah...I meant InReach. My bad!

Butthead, I started the miss-name of the InReach, oops. I checked out the Arcteryx rain gear, that is some expensive rain gear. Gonna have to think about that. I have looked at the MSR Reactor. A monocular will make the cut as will rain gear. I'll let you all know what I do...it may be awhile. Keep the ideas coming.

My two cents would be to go to
http://www.dream-hammock.com/shop.html
I ordered a DangerBird I received it about 2 weeks ago and have already spent 4 or 5 nights in it. Just want to make sure that I like it, and I do like it. I was not comfortable in the blackbird that I received and returned it. Mine is a 1.6 oz single layer, it only weighs 18.5 oz. I also have an ENO Double that I have enjoyed for a few years now, but wanted to incorporate the bug net with the hammock instead of using the Guardian Bug Net. I made my underquilt with a poncho liner, but plan on upgrading around Christmas time. I am kinda wishing that I went with the sparrow for the easy open zippers. Maybe next year.

Every now and again you can find Arcteryx gear on a really good sale. That is how I got my Beta jacket and pants; do not recall where, however. Maybe Backcountry or Moosejaw? It's worth simply googling the brand every now and again. Like I said, I cannot imagine ever having to buy rain gear again.

CCS cover for the magic, without thinking very much. You already have every thing else.

The deal on the Arcteryx jacket fell through. The outfit selling the jacket ended up not having it in stock. Not happy about that. I will continue shopping for a deal. I have bought some wood carving knives and such and I am taking carving lessons. I have not ruled out a cover for my solo canoe. I did get the new Zav paddle.

precambian - I got the Opticron Trailfinder II for around $60. I am not crazy about the focus lever, but they should be pretty nice for spotting open camps from a distance. I have top notch Zeiss binos for birding. I am not sure I'll take them on a canoe trip due to weight and value. If I dropped those in a lake, I would cry. Zeiss makes a monocular but the price (@ $400) is too high for me, for what I would use it for.
deanalika - We are putting the big trip on hold for a year. Just too much going on with settling my dads estate and helping my mother-in-law out, both of our dads died in June. Looks like we will go back to the Florida Keys in February. We did this a couple of years ago when it was 13 below in Cincinnati. We have thought about Patagonia as well as England while the pound in down.
