Going winter camping soon with the husband....

For some ice fishing - which lake(s) would you head to? Definitely want to put up some tip ups and relax.

We also don't want to see tons of folk....

- Wood Lake
- Snowbank/Parent/Disappointment

What am I missing? (and yes - we are VERY married to Ely)

How are you planning to travel, snow shoes, skis, and how far do you want to go?
The weather is going to warm up so lake travel should be good in a week to 10 days, and most of the slush should be gone.
That will make your trip a lot easier than current conditions.

Hey TGO - Snowshoe please. I don't think we want to travel more than 4-5 miles in....?

4-5 miles isn't very much, and will limit you to just a few lakes.
Perhaps Hegman, but may have more traffic than you'd like.
Moose Lake up the Echo Trail would be good, but isn't within the 5 mile limitation going in by foot??
Stay away from any lakes with creeks or swamps by them, the ice is usually questionable near those areas.

Gabro lake, but make sure you detour around the narrows between little Gabro and Gabro. Stay away from rapids.

Outward Bound use to camp on Little Gabro at times.

Thanks everyone!

I think we've got our location pinned down, and might add another day - to push that 5 mile etc. ;-)
