Materials, labor, shipping, simplification of design, liability. Probably all affect it. I bet the largest factor is a brand name with a high profit margin. Several parts of the MSR WindPro are made in SKorea by Kovea.

Whatever the reason, it is a bargain and the Alocs brand is one I'm familiar with.
I'll let ya know how well it works (hell I'll show ya in person), I did order one. Like I need another stove!

Delivered over the weekend, it's a pretty good little burner!
Solid leg/pot stand without fiddly hinged sections, has a preheated fuel line like the WindPro and works fine with an inverted canister, long SS covered fuel line to the tank. Weight's just a bit less than the WindPro, has a smaller burner so not as high an output of heat, boiled 16oz cold water in 4 minutes. Packs a bit smaller than the WindPro, smaller burner and lower stand. Very solid and stable, adjusts to a barely visible flame for simmer.
Very nice stove for $20!

Here is one that I picked up a year ago. I am a fan of Windpro stoves but was looking for a backup. This one has been flawless. Sportsun Camping Stove

Fully understood, and I am a collector of MSR stoves. How long should a company keep recouping it's development cost. Remote fuel tanks stoves were first established by MSR in 1972, the Simmerlite came out in the 1990's and is the direct predecessor of the WindPro.
Coleman, Brunton, Optimus, Primus, and more companies have used the same basic design for years.

Have one, works great! Did not care for the hinged leg/pot stands. Does make a good backup if that's what you need.

I purchased one a while back as well, like butthead, just for fun. One thing I have noticed, the stem that goes into the canister seems a bit wider than my other stoves. I have had some leakage problems when I disconnect the stove from the canister; the canister leaks gas for a bit. It seems like the rubber gasket may have been damaged by the stove stem. Not sure, sometimes it leaks and sometimes it does not. Curious if anyone else has experienced this.
But, this being one of 8 stoves, I have a lot to choose from.

Well BH you sold another one for those crafty Chinese fellas. I ordered mine to back up my MSR wind pro and I'm leaving my MSR Superfly behind this next trip. Like you I prefer the remote canister stoves as they sit lower, catch less wind (easier to screen) and easier to adjust flame remotely. Thanks BH.

I'm a Windpro fan too, as you said, good idea for a backup, or a 2nd stove for a larger group. Tempting. On a side note, when looking at ALOCS stoves, I noticed that they make a nice little kettle, 1.4L compact and squat. I have a similar .9L
Primus teapot that is light and doesn't take up much pack space, nice for solo trips, but .9l of hot water really isn't a lot. Always wished it was a little bigger.
This looks like it's worth a try. Roughly 6"w x 5"h. 1.4L Teapot

butthead, this is a great stove. Used it on our trip and the simmer capability was better than my Optimus Vega by a mile. Not sure I'll ever buy a name brand stove again.

Dude, don't know much about politically correct Asian terminology but, I bought one of these and this oriental stoves and it falls short of MSR Windpro with several design short Falls. It will absolutely work but one major design flaw is the fuel line is exposed in critical kinking areas that will result in pinched fuel lines that will result in poor stove performance. I know since mine came slightly pre-pinched.

Good point to mention BnD. The MSR stoves do use a SS cable inside their fuel lines even the Dragonfly and Windpro, the Alocs does not and can kink. It is more flexible and is replaceable though.
