Thanks for sharing. I especially like the photos of your boat on that beautiful beach and that odd rock.

TB, a beautiful, bittersweet trip report. Yours are always my very favorites, and this one didn't disappoint. It isn't just your itinerary, your adventures, and your beautiful photos--it is also your mindset and your attitude. This report is an inspiration on all fronts.

It has been many years since we have been to Adams and Boulder, and it is one of my strongest regrets that we didn't make it there, as we had planned, on our 2006 trip. To me, this is some of the most beautiful and interesting scenery in all of the BWCA. It was with joy, tinged with some sadness, that I read your report and shared this trip with you. Thank you.

May God bless you as you explore new waters in your life, and heal old wounds.

Very nice trip report! We sure enjoyed stopping to chat with you on Boulder! I can relate regarding the weather, since we were up there at virtually the same time as you. I guess the bad weather made us really appreciate the good weather later in the trip:-)
Thanks for the heads-up on the nasty widow maker branch north of Boulder too.
I really like the way you added comments on your mindset during the trip. I need to add more of my thoughts during trips... my trip reports read more like technical documents.
The only thing missing from your trip report is a picture of you :-)

Thanks Gary!

Meeting you guys when I did on that trip was truly a God send. Absolutely one of the highlights of the trip for me. Also, thank you for the picture; I really do appreciate it. I had always intended to take at least one but, for some reason, it just never happened?

Spartan2,

Thank you so much for the kind words. I have always appreciated your insights (not just on my trip reports) and the valuable contributions you have continually made to this site. I consider your wealth of knowledge, beautiful photos and compassionate commentary as one of the most treasured aspects of bwca.com, and hope you continue to contribute well into the future.

P.S.
One day, I would like to get to Cherokee lake and see the 'Spartan site' firsthand.

God bless,
TB

TB - I always cherish reading your reports, they teach so much about the
BWCA and living.
I am starting to find the wilderness (both the BWCA & Yellowtone/Beartooth MTs) as physically healing for me, but also mentally. I so look forward to my trip with my cousin this summer. As I was reading your adventure, I kept wondering why you were doing a solo, but you brought it all together in the end and I cannot say it as eloquently as Spartan2, so I will just repeat her last line, "May God bless you as you explore new waters in your life, and heal old wounds."
Thanks for sharing your travels.

Thanks for sharing both the trip and your self. It makes the board a better place.
Wishing you courage and serenity in the high rollers that come with this thing called life.

Wonderful trip report. You echo so many of my own thoughts these days. The BWCA, and wilderness in general, plays such a key role in navigating life and life's changes, both bumpy changes and joyous changes alike.

Great trip report! I like how you explain everything in your trip.

Really enjoyed your report. Makes me want to try this area of the BWCA someday. We were in the Basswood River/Crooked Lake area around the same time and got to enjoy the same weather. It was the first time in the BWCA for my nephew. Over Christmas he said " next time we go we should go when the weather is better". As if that was in our control. At least he is looking forward to the next time.

Yes, that was the longest continuous crumbly weather that I can recall on any of my trips. However, this area really has a lot of special lakes, which helped balance things out.

Thanks for the report. I appreciate the way that you express yourself through your writing. It's not about the trip but about the journey. Your reports always reach me at so many levels. Thank you.

Nice report... you traveled some similar waters as I did on my long trip where I met you on Finger. Boulder island site is a treat to have all to yourself. I hope 2020 is a good year for you to get out there. Meanwhile, fix up the black pearl and get her ready for many more adventures.

TB,

Really enjoyed reading your trip report.
Keep your head up ... you will get through this tough time in your life.

Thanks for the trip report, TB. I especially enjoyed it as my 2016 trip covered a lot of the same territory, but started and ended at Kawishiwi Lake EP #37. I stayed on the same site on Alice, stayed on Boulder Lake, and took the same "bushwhack" portage on the river! :)

Best of luck on your transition to a new phase of your life.
