The worst paddling conditions I have ever experienced in the BWCA were paddling across Snowbank to the EP from Disappointment on exit day. Good luck and have fun. I took a pretty similar route and it was one of my favorites. |

03/27/2017 11:58PM If you are interested in history, you will be passing the home site of the last full-time resident of the BWCA. Dorothy Molter, the "Root Beer Lady", lived on the Isle of Pines just south of Robbins Island on the west end of Knife Lake. For some reason I don't see the island on the BWCA.com lake maps. The island is just south of campsite 1248, which appears to be floating in the middle of Knife Lake. Don't forget to check out the ribbon rock. |

03/27/2017 03:53PM I agree on adding Disappointment. I also found Ashigan to be a great lake with great campsites and route to Ima was cool. And the Ima to Thomas route is very pretty. Great area in general. I've hit all of your route in past 3-4 years. I'm sure I'll go again. |

03/27/2017 01:06PM I prefer heading through disappointment in route to ima. Jordan has a beach site at its northern most site. Ima to hatchet portage has a very interesting start. Campsite on wisini narrows is very good according to what i've read. Good luck have fun! Im doing a similar loop first week of june (i hope). |

Good ideas - DeanL - Thunder Point is worth the hike. That loop gets pretty busy once the BSA camp is sending out groups into Knife etc. Get going and look for sites early. |

03/26/2017 07:40PM We are planning a 7 day/6 night route from EP 27 to Eddy Lake and back. We are hoping for some comments on the route and what to see and do. Also, there's one rest day planned and a half day or two planned. Any suggestions on where to take them? The route will be: 1. Snowbank to Boot 2. Head east through Haven/Abinodji/Swing/Gibson to Cattyman 3. Then through Jordan, Ima, Thomas and Fraser 4. North through Gerund/Ahmakose/Wisini/Strup to Kek 5. East through Kek ponds and Eddy Lake 6. West through Knife lake and the border route to Birch, Sucker, and Newfound 7. East to Ensign 8. South through Boot again and Snowbank. If weather is bad or progress is slowed, we'll short-cut from Kek through Pickle/Spoon/Bonnie to Knife and/or short-cut from Knife through Vera to Ensign. The only sights we know on the route that we want to see are the falls at Cattyman and Ensign, and Bacon rock. What else is there? Any other comments or suggestions?
