I'm waiting to hear which point has my name on it. I believe it is 50, 51, or 52. The teacher set the permits so I'm unsure as of now.

Likely length. Well entry is the 25th. I have until the 4th off so at the latest I'd need to exit on the 3rd. I'd be happy with any amount of time. If the kids work out we are heading back on the 30th I believe. So I guess I'm planning 5 nights. But if they fall out and I go with someone else I'm open to whatever works.

Mike, what is the entry point you have your name on and the probable length of the trip?

I won't be able to join you either; I live too far away to do more than one trip a year and I have one planned later in the year. I've done a dozen or so trips and almost all have been solos. Don't be afraid to do a solo - it will be a piece of cake compared to chaperoning a bunch of kids there! :). A solo would be very relaxing for you. Just shoot me an email and I'll tell you exactly what to do for a solo. You can always check out the solo forum too. Good luck with whatever trip you end up doing.

quote michiganmike: "Thanks Matt. If dates change I'll let you know. I'm not sure I'm to solo level yet. I really hope we can get the kids funded but if not and I can't find a group maybe I'll try a solo. Scary."

To your original post, I am sorry I won't be able to join you.

I am also a teacher and last year I needed some time in the woods to get some peace and quiet. No one else was available to go, so I decided to go solo. It was a little scary being in a solo canoe (having never paddled one) and knowing that everything hinged on me. Also, a massive thunderstorm blew through on Zenith and it was black as night around 11 am one day. Lighting struck pretty close and I was pretty scared for about an hour. A couple of days I had to stop early because I was leery of the waves.

But after completing the trip I had a tremendous feeling of satisfaction knowing that I pulled it off. Part of the satisfaction came from conquering the Lujenida to Zenith Portage twice (much easier the second time when it was sunny). I saw the Laurentian Divide in action as a massive downpour cascaded down both sides of it, and I have never been happier to see the end of a portage.

A solo is definitely worth undertaking if you have prepared yourself mentally and physically!

I was a bit nervous about my first solo trip, but I absolutely loved it. I try to get in two solo trips each year now. Check out the solo forum if you decide to give solo tripping a try. Tons of good information.

I'll be leading a trip that same date. However, if you decide to change your dates let me know. I'd most likely be able to do a trip with you.

I'm a teacher and usually take five or more trips per summer.

So I'm chaperoning a trip to the BWCA June 25th. It is suppose to be 3 groups of 8. However right now it is a very real possibility that the kids will not raise the funding necessary for the trip.

If that happens well I already have the time off and the plans to go. Oh and one of the EPs has my name on the permit. So I'm thinking I'll still go.

I'm from Michigan and if I make the 12 hour drive I'd like to have someone else to go with.

Is this something anyone would be interested in?

I'm a fisher but just really enjoy nature.

I am 31 and divorced raising 2 children and fostering another. I could use the time off.

The second week in June is the money deadline for the kids. However tomorrow there is a meeting and I'll be pretty sure of how things are going.
