There are 2 permit types for lake One - 30 and 30 F
#30 you can go any where
#30 F "Camping on the Kawishiwi River west of Confusion Lake is NOT allowed. Camping east and south of the Lake One landing IS allowed including Lakes One through Four, Hudson, Insula, and beyond." There are 7 for each of these entry points - making 14 per day for Lake One.

As for camp site - only a couple remain closed - ask at the ranger station in Ely or your outfitter.

The USFS provides updated closure maps at this link.

You should be able to find that information on the USFS website.

I was in the number chain the year after the pagami fire and if I recall correctly, they had signs up at the campsites that were closed.

We have a permit for EP 30 for Saturday Sept 2, exit EP 30 Sept 4, just two nights inside BWCA. last time we were at the Numbered Lakes was probably 2009, we still have a map. My question is , was the Numbered Lakes map updated after the 2011 fire?. Do I need to buy a new map? . I noticed that the recreation .gov web site shows only 7 permit/day, while BWCA maps in this site still shows 18 for EP 30. My guess is that the number of permits was changed to 7 because many campsites are closed??.. how do you know when a campsite is closed?..is there a website that shows the most accurate information on open/closed campsites in the Numbered Lakes?
