Cummings does not have walleye. If you push farther you can reach Buck or Big Moose. Both are excellent walleye lakes. If your base camping, I’d head south on the Moose River to Big Moose. Some nice sites on this lake.

Yup, 30F will work well from Lake One to Snopwbank - just don't camp in the river.

: "Thanks for all the suggestions!

It looks like Lake One entry point is all reserved for that Friday. Does anyone know what the restrictions for entry point 30F are? I called Rec.gov and they had no idea.

"

"This Lake One entry point shares the same physical location but includes camping restrictions. Entry point 30F includes restrictions for no camping on the Kawishiwi River at any time.

Restricted: No camping on the Kawishiwi River west of Confusion Lake."

Cummings might have some walleyes in it but it is known more as a bass lake. I’ve stayed on Cummings twice ,fishing for a week each time for bass. We never caught a walleye accidentally or talked to anyone who had. If you base on Cummings, There might be lakes in the area you can portage to for walleye but I’m not sure what they are. I’m sure others here can help with that.

I cant speak for cummins but by the looks of it you have a few options for friday or saturday entry that I can comment on.

For friday you can enter at fall and go up into pipestone, and jackfish bay or portage into back bay, hoist bay and wind bay. These are all productive areas with good fishing for all but lake trout. It can be busy and there is a lot of water to cover but an experienced fisherman should do well.

Another option for friday entry is moose lake which could be a trip north and west into wind lake, wind bay, indiana, ect.... or a trip north and east into knife.

Saturday you have the above options again with additional option of wood lake. Wood lake is small and good to fish, Good Lake has a nice campsite at the narrows, and access to basswood is only a few hours from entering at wood.

hope this helps

4 of us will be going up Memorial Day weekend via Ely. We're looking for a new route this year. We've previously entered in at Mudro, Moose River N and Trout. Any good fishing lake recommendations around Ely?

Has anyone had any luck fishing for walleye in Cummings? Looks like some nice campsites on that lake.

And I see a lot of the entry points have been taken already, so we may be limited.

Thanks!
