06/18/2018 09:58AMDerekfap10: "Just got back yesterday from entry point 16 to Agnes, and there weren't any mosquitos until just before dark. And then just a few. Never got a bite. " I think the dry conditions going into summer really helped. |

06/16/2018 07:40PM On Basswood lake and surrounds last year on the week of July 4th, I had the worst mosquitos I've ever seen anywhere -- and that includes Alaska, the Everglades, San Juan River in Nicaragua, and other buggy places. On warm evenings their swarming produced a loud, high-pitched noise all around camp. It was bad; but the trip was wonderful, and I'm coming back to the general area in a week. Take your bug spray and shell clothes, and don't let 'em bug you :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_FSjIyJfOw |

06/15/2018 10:33AM Any idea how things are going to be next week with the rain this next week? Think I might be able to sneak in and out before too many mosquitoes hatch and start looking for blood? Going in Wed thru Sun on Gunflint side. |
