There are tons of great options, but so much is dependent on your price range. I have a large family, too, and it can be tough to find what you want and also in your price range. You can often find "large family" package deals at Gunflint Lodge and other similar places. We love Gunflint Lodge as there is tons of stuff to do for the kids. However, it is spendy even with the package.

The cheapest route to go is to look on VRBO.com or Airbnb and rent a cabin directly from an owner in the Gunflint of Ely area. There are also a few local rental companies like cascadevacationrentals.com (Lutsen area. We've rented through them before and had a great experience).

There are lots of places available for rent, many adjacent to the BWCA. If you go that route, you can also find a cabin that comes with whatever amenities you want (boat, sauna, etc.). We've done it several times and have yet to have a bad experience.

Also, if you're looking in the Crane Lake area, highly recommend Nelson's Resort. Great family place with lots to do.

Gunflint Lodge has nice cabins for rent, on-site dining, and all the toys (motored and otherwise) for use.

We love the BWCAW area. My family would like to locate and be referred to a good rental. The people that lurk on this site have been tremendously helpful in planning canoe trips. I have four kids ages 3-12. One hang up is this...if we are going to be in motored waters we will need a boat/ pontoon perhaps. I have two trip canoes I may bring. I have looked at Pine Point on Crane which I would consider a good option thus far. It certainly has its perks. I am open to whatever at this point.

Thanks a lot
