Did you notice all the dead trees surrounding Green because the water is so high?" |

07/09/2018 07:12PM I came out through there 6 or 7 years ago and the water at the mill stone was over wasit deep. |

07/09/2018 06:38PM Love that area. Thanks for bringing me back. Water levels were down when I was there (solo). Landings were rocky, especially between Gebe and Oyster. |

07/09/2018 05:58PM Sounds like some hard work paddling out. We were on the same trip about 5 years ago with lots of water flowing. The portages were not quite as wet as it sounded like they were for you. The nice thing were all the waterfalls we could hear and wander around. We were on North Lake with predictions for severe storms the next night and we paddled out from there in one long day. The wind didn't pick up until after noon but against the wind and current to get out was hard work by ourselves. Solo would be much tougher. Glad to hear your back safe and sound. |

07/09/2018 03:55PM Came out yesterday from four day solo. Did loop from EP 14 to Hustler, Ge-be, Finger, Eugene, North, Loon, and out EP 14 again. LIS is really flowing. Water was high when I entered, could feel the current in spots. You could really feel it coming out yesterday right after two hours of heavy rain from storms. Water is running across the Lynx to Ruby portage about 20 rods in from overflow...that was before yesterdays storms. Ge-be Creek is nice and high, the beaver dam before getting to Pocket Creek is under water. Portage from Thumb to Beartrack is in rough shape. Maybe a 12-15 trees down over the portage. Only one required putting the canoe down but two others required some caution scooting over the tree. Didn't have to take the portage between Section 9 Pond and Slim, could paddle right up to the dam on Slim and carry over. In general, portage landings are under water which is nice in some cases, messy in others. Spent two hours yesterday morning huddled at the Lower Pauness side of the portage around Devils Cascade. Got off the river just in time before the first storm hit, got soaked on the portage, then had to wait out lightning, then had another storm bearing down and waited that out. Canoeing against the current and wind out on LIS was not fun! |
