Inspiring! Sounds like a good trip in the making. Hope the seasonal roads allow you in, and more importantly, that they let you out! Watch for heavy snow in the forecast.

Sounds like a good time. I was up near Hayard on lake Namakagen over Thanksgiving and was out from shore jumping around and the ice was not moving. So, unless there are some odd circumstances, your lake should be frozen.

I am heading out Thursday for four nights in the UP and Wisconsin and am eager to do some hiking and I hope ice-fishing!

Thursday afternoon I will set up camp at Moosehead Lake Campground, Ottawa National Forest. I checked with the Forest Service last week and the campground is still open. It is located on a seasonal road, so hope it is not impassable with snow. Since it is just me, I will use my Empire 2-man tent which is easy to set up.

Friday I will travel over to Catherine Wolter Wilderness near Presque Isle for a day hike. This will be my November visit to a Wilderness. My 2018 Challenge has been to visit a different Wilderness each month of the year.

Saturday morning, I will pack up and move to Porcupine Lake Wilderness near Drummond, WI. I am meeting a friend there and we will hike in together. Again, this is on seasonal roads and I think there is more snow on the ground in that area. We will use my Baker tent for 2 nights here. The North Country Trail goes thru this area so I plan on some hiking Saturday. We are bringing fishing gear and will check Porcupine Lake for bluegills if the ice is safe. All this will be my December 2018 Wilderness visit and complete my annual challenge.

Meal planning, shopping, packing etc today and tomorrow. Eager to get started!
