I've only camped on the Quetico side of Knife in the winter. It would certainly be preferable to the pounded sites on the US side in summer.

Yep. Know about the BWCA permit option, but I'd rather not. And I've done the Emerald / Plough route before. Just curious about the camps on the Canadian side of Knife and if anyone here as stayed at one of them.

FYI you can get a BWCAW permit for a portion of a trip. One thing I think you'll find is fewer people on Canadian side. Also looping back through Plough and Emerald.

Doing the Man Chain next summer with my brothers and our kids. After the Man Chain Lakes we may hit Knife Lake on the way back, but since we will only have a Quetico permit we'd obviously need to camp on the Canadian side. I know the US side has many great sites, but info is sparse on the Canada side.

Anyone here camped on the Quetico side of Knife Lake? We'd be coming out to Knife from Carp Lake via either Crawford Lake or the Beaver / Fisher / Martin chain.
