I go mainly in early September and this is what I experience as well. There may be the occasional horsefly in the day when it's calm out too. Head nets won't be necessary unless you're out at dusk. It's my favorite time to trip. Less people and bugs.

We went mid-September in 2015, the one day it rained we got a few skeeters. Other than that you could almost say there were none.

We put in at Mudro in 8/19 and the only problem we had with skeeters was for about 30-45 minutes right after sundown. Then they went away. So I would say September they should be no problem with the cooler temps in the evening.

In the last three years we have seen maybe 5 in mid September. We'll see this year!
