Well I finally pulled the trigger on a solo for myself, and can’t wait to get it on the water. Mother Nature has other ideas with rain and some snow later today, so the maiden voyage will have to wait a few more days. The hull (inside and out) needs a little TLC as the previous owner seems to have tried to oil the wood gunnels but left drips and streaks behind on the inside and outside, so I’m looking for a way to clean that up without harming any of the finishes. I did email Northstar for advice but would be happy to hear from people here as well. There are a few more spots similar to the ones shown in the photos below.

I have the same boat, picked it new in January and it had some similar residue on it from the factory and some goo on the exterior. I spoke with Bear at Northstar and he recommended a small amount denatured alcohol on a rag. It worked for me. Use it very sparingly and rinse off with water when done.

I did email them and got similar advice, so I’ll be giving that a try this weekend. Thanks for the info!
