I know people travel through Quetico and end their trip in the BWCA. I'm unsure of the correct permitting to do that if we decided to spend the last night near a tow pickup in the BWCA.

I've seen someone from a long time ago that said to have the BWCA permit start the same day as the Quetico permit, but it seems like if you go to Quetico you are leaving the BWCA and your permit would be voided for reentry. I'm guessing getting a permit for entry from Canada/ Quetico would be the way to do it, for the date we stay in BWCA.

Has anyone done it either way?

I did it once. They issued the permit in advance. I honestly don't recall for sure but think I got it in the mail.

Best to make it for the earliest day you might enter, and not worry if you're delayed.
