Missing the BWCA

I've taken an annual October trip every year for the past 12 years. Mostly solo trips. I will miss the trip this year because I drew a trophy New Mexico antelope hunt in a unit where non residents have a 0.7% of drawing a tag. Even though it is a once in a lifetime tag, I can't help regret that it will be the same time I should be in the BWCA.

I miss the fall colors, cooler temps and solitude already. There is always next year but I sure do miss not being able to go this year. Reminds me of a woman from Oakland, NE who never missed a trip in 50 years.

I think of it more of how much I love the BWCA than hunting. Yea it is a good tag but I think I enjoy the BWCA more.

I don’t disagree, I love hunting season as it is a culmination of my non winter outdoor pursuits. The BWCA offers something a hunting trip cannot.

What unit did you get? Firearm or archery?

Unit 16 rifle around the Gila mountains. 3 day season starting next weekend.
