I am thinking of trying to mount my transducer inside my cedar strip canoe this summer. Has anyone tried this? I would like to semi-permanently mount it with silicone. Thanks!

Yes. It shoots through mine just fine. Standard build, with 6oz glass inside and out.

I dont know about wood but my Vexilar boundry water will shoot through my Souris river and my grumman if it is sitting in a small amount of water in the bottom of the canoe. It dosent do as well if it is dry? Anthony

Old post, I know. Can you give me some more info on this? Placement in canoe, how you fastened/secured it, maybe a picture?

I have my cedar strip I built, and want to mount a fish finder.

many canoes etc, have a hot spot will say that it will work. Experiment a little bit. I do have a hard time in my solo Prism tho. My Souris-no problem.

Plastic bag method worked for me. Fill a ziplock about halfway and rest the transducer on it. Just have to find the right balance where the transducer is sort of cradled in the bag. Can place it anywhere.

Put a big dab of silicone on, and bury the transducer in it. Works on cedar and Kevlar boats. Nice to have a permanent mount.
