I've used Williams and Hall for the last 6 years. They have a great tow service on Moose Lake and shuttle service to other entry points not on Moose Lake. They have a private parking lot. Nice dining hall with a stake diner after the trip. Nice well stocked store for last minute items and T-shirts. They have a bunk house with hot showers and a sauna. Prices are very competitive if not on the low side for most outfitters. They have been able to accommodate my groups from just my family of 4 to a Boy Scout group of 40. And if you plan far enough in advance, they will secure your entry permit to either Boundary Waters or Quitico. If you're from outside Minnesota, you can get your fishing license on site. Dave is knowledgeable of great fishing hot spots too. They do partial to full outfitting - I've rented just canoes and taken the tow and also outfitted a whole scout troop with food, and all the group gear including canoes, food packs, tents, etc. They have laid out nice routes for me and highlighted nice camping spots as well as identify heavy bear activity areas to avoid and scenic spots to stop and see. (I have no financial interest in their company :) They are just nice to work with.)

I've been using T&W now W&H since '79. They offer free parking, great facilities, and they will treat you right (as most of the outfitters do). I like that they are out on the Lake. Would much rather spend the evening before or after the trip still out by the water not sitting in town.

Bottom line is there are several great choices for a tow to and from Prairie Portage.

Probably.
Maybe.
Hell I don't know...
I've used them all from Tom and woods to Don Belands and La Torells.
"

Tom and Woods is now Williams and Hall...... I have been using them for a tow and bunkhouse stay since 88.

It may have been Vossburgh's. We have used them several times and always had a great experience.

They have a parking lot, bunks, motel rooms, restaurant, tackle and toes. They may be who you talked to. Used them before and it was good.

I used Williams and Hall a few weeks ago. Liked it so much I got a bunkhouse for the back side of my trip too.

Canoe Country has a Moose Lake base - campground, parking, etc. - and their own tows, but they are not the only ones, and have been there quite a while. I use to prefer their "private" parking but I don't have any trouble with the Moose Lake lot either now.

I talked to a young man doing tows from PP to Moose on our way out a few weeks ago. Maybe he indicated his family just bought the business? I'm interested in using them for a tow in the fall, because they have their own parking lot and I'd rather do that than leave my vehicle at the Moose boat ramp for a long time.

Any idea of the name of this outfitter on Moose? It is not LaTourell's for sure.
