SevenofNine: "For waterfalls and rock walls you can't beat LIS N for some scenery. Check out the Devil's cascade but head east and camp on Lynx or Shell. It's an out and back trip but you will still enjoy it heading out."

Instead of doubling back, you can also do this trip and push through to Hustler if you don't mind two 1 mile portages. Hustler is really scenic with some nice rocky campsites, and if you want a jump rock, Emerald lake just south of Hustler definitely has a great site with one. People have posted pics in the camp site review section. You can definitely go in at EP14, check out devils cascade on lower paunes, then night 1 on lynx or shell, night 2 on hustler or emerald, night 3 on Nina Moose and then come out EP16. Very manageable and a lot of great campsites in that area.

In at Mudro, down Horse River and down Basswood River past Wheelbarrow Falls to Lower Basswood Falls. Back out the way you came in. Good fishing, rock walls, etc. pictographs just downstream from lower falls on rock wall. No real long portages and covers all your bases.

Not a loop, but offering some of the best of the area is an out and back. Moose to Ima then to Fraser and back out the same way. Cattyman falls and the rock cliffs with pictographs at the Jordan narrows. A nice flowing stream. The cliffs passing from Thomas into Fraser are spectacular. Use the maps feature and check out some of the comments and photos.

18 years ago, I was in the BWCA and I'm heading back this year. Taking my 14 year old daughter. Prefer to do a loop out of Ely area for renting the canoe and few extras. Top priorities are water falls and rock walls, then of course fishing and shorter portages. Going for three nights in early June.

Thanks in advance.
