I base camped on Wood last year on a solo. Caught a few fish, though I'm not a good fisherman. Maybe that says something!

Wood is a pass-through lake for Good, Indiana, Hoist Bay, etc. Keep in mind that parties pass through with some regularity.

OK awesome, we will probably do that

I also recommend making the trip up to Good. It's a nice short portage from Wood to Hula, then a moderate portage into Good. I've had great luck finding smallmouth and pike action on Good, as well as meals of walleye and panfish.

Can't recall fishing Wood itself, but have loved fishing both Indiana and Good. Caught a 4+ lb. lmb on Good a few years ago in June.

SPOTPRES1: "Hello all! We are finally coming back to the BWCA for our second trip since aug 2014! Like I said we are coming on wood lake and staying for 5 days! I am just curious if any of you have been to wood lake area lately, and how is the fishing been? We will be mostly fishing so looking for any advice we can find on which lake is best for Largemouth bass and also we would like to find some bigger pike this time! Last trip we probably caught 100 pike in the 20-26" range and would like to get into some of the big pike I have been seeing on here! Thanks in advance! Jamie "

Wood lake should have all the bass and pike you want but with 5 days to fish I'm guessing you will venture further on day trips? Indiana lake has many smb and lmb and is fun to fish because of the very clear water. Accessible sections of basswood and good lake should have the potential for big pike. Good luck, I might also be on wood lake in June. Have fun, good luck!
