11/29/2012 03:27PM I got the Wiggy's single bag Antarctic Hunter which is supposedly rated to -60. I had it up in Algonquin last week and it only got down to about -6 but it was really warm. I was hoping for colder temps to give it a more accurate temperature testing. I get really cold when I sleep so as long as it will take me to -30 or so I will be content. I just can't do mummy bags as I find them way too restrictive. That's the main reason I looked at the Wiggys. |

11/29/2012 09:41AM The advice I got when I asked about temps like that was not to bother with bags rated for them, but to instead go with two bags more in the 0-degree range and layer. |

11/29/2012 09:39AM I bought a Wiggys, Ultimate Thule sleeping bag plus the FTRSS Bag about 20 years ago. I used it hard for about 1/2 of those years as a winter guide and dogsledder. You can't go wrong. It is made of lamilite insulation. The system has a zero degree bag and a 32 degree bag. They zip together to form one bag with a dead air space in-between. Take your damp clothes off and put between the two bags and they are dry in the morning. I think that the two combined are rated to about 60below. I also ordered it extra long and extra wide. 11/29/2012 07:17AM I'am in the market (just looking for now) at a true cold weather bag or combo of bags such as Wiggys' has. Would tend to lean towards just down-- but the prices at +$400 and up are a bit discouraging. Just getting ideas for now. For those currently in the market--- this seems like a good deal. |
