02/04/2017 02:22PM I'm agree with Jaywalker... With our amazing Nils auger - I don't care if it re-freezes. That sucker punches down 2 feet in less than 20 seconds! |

02/02/2017 10:09AM I usually bring an insulated tip-up like this: https://www.frabill.com/ice-fishing/tip-ups/pro-thermal-round-tip-up.html just seal it around the hole well, havent had issues even on below zero nights keeping it open until morning. |

02/01/2017 09:34PM I bring an ice auger. It goes through a foot of ice in about 8 seconds. I don't care I the hole refreezes. |

02/01/2017 04:22PM I have seen and used rigid foam insulation, closed cell foam pad piece, snow. The more loose snow the better. snow in the hole sometimes makes the ice growth weaker. |

02/01/2017 04:07PM We just leave the chisel by the hole. So it is easy to find and open ;) |

02/01/2017 01:33PM A pine bough or a few branches and pile show on top. Snow is an insulator. |

02/01/2017 12:00PM What do people use to cover up their water hole (if you do this) to help prevent it from re-freezing over? |
