Hi friends,

I currently have my tandem canoe hanging in my garage via pulley system so needed to find a way to store my solo Prism in there as well. So- I came up with this way to store it horizontally against the wall to save some space.

My question- does anyone see an issue with this for storing the canoe long term? I strategically put the braces on the ribs of the canoe (or whatever those things are called that you can see), created an angle on the arms to lower the impact, and put some good padding on there so hopefully it won't hurt it. I will attach a few photos if I can figure out how to do that.

However, I have never really seen canoes stored this way so thought I would see if I am doing something dumb that will harm the canoe's structural integrity long-term or anything else I am missing? Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!!

I stored an Old Town polyethylene canoe like that for several years with no issue.

In theory a Kevlar canoe should be more resistant to deformation than a poly canoe that probably weighed twice as much, but I just don't know. I'd try contacting the manufacturer.

My brother stores his aluminum gunwales canoe this way. Your canoe appears to have wood gunwales. It’s unlikely that they’d warp but I’d be mildly concerned

On occasion I have noticed some retailers have stored canoes on their stems. I always wondered about how that might damage the canoe. But they probably don't remain in that position for lengthly periods.

I've seen pics from outfitters showing that's how they store the boats over the winter (on the stems).

I have my canoes stored in my garage like that. Haven't used one for several years but check on it occasionally; I haven't been able to see any issues. Gunwales look good and the hull isn't warped or dented. Might not be the best but takes half the space away from the wall; and don't have the overhead room to store flat.
