Has anyone tried pre-scrambling eggs and then freezing in a water bottle for canoe trips? Once thawed in the cooler, would cook immediately. thoughts? safe?

TIA!

Yes, there have been people who have done that. We had a really good thread several years ago where this and a whole lot of other options were brought up. Great Old Egg Thread Personally I prefer farm fresh unwashed eggs which do not require any refrigeration, or if I am happy with scrambled eggs I've found OvaEasy to be pretty darn close to real eggs, especially if you toss some butter or ghee in with them. It costs a bit more, but is super-convenient especially on longer trips.

Hopefully others will pipe in too.

I agree about the farm fresh, unwashed eggs. I have quite a few (way to many if you ask my wife) chickens for my kids for 4H and as a hobby breeder and so I have plenty of fresh eggs. I just keep my 2 dozen eggs (however many u need) from right before we leave, don't wash them (I only use the clean ones for trips) and bring them along. We have fresh eggs every morning if we want them. 7 nights 8 days usually. They won't go bad for months in cool weather.

We either hard boil them on travel mornings so we can pack while they cook or we make scrambled eggs or egg sandwiches with bacon and cheese.
