djwillco	04/15/2018 08:25AM If you pop over to Oyster, the late ice out should mean the Lakers are still fairly shallow (ask the outfitter how deep they are when you arrive). Bring a couple of 10-20 foot Rapala Taildancers and just troll around the lake till you find them. Best eating in the BWCA!

I see you're from Oregon, IL, so wanted to let you know about the Rockford, IL WingNight in 4 weeks. If you don't already know, it's a get together of canoe/BWCA/Quetico enthusiasts. It's held over the first weekend of May at the Lithuanian Club land on the Kishwaukee river. It's attended by all ages, including kids, and is a great time to share experiences and pick up tips, canoe on the Kish, enjoy camp food, camp overnight, fun and music around the campfire and more. VoyageurNorth	04/10/2018 11:21PM Best to check just before you come up to see where in their "season" the bass are. But you could check out Oyster. Good smallmouth & the lake trout are not shabby there either. Should be a good time for the trout.

" I will echo what thlipsis29 said. We have done many trips together in that area, and big smallies abound. Along with the areas he mentioned, check out Boulder Bay on LLC and the mouth of the Bottle river on LLC. Here is a little smallie from the Boulder River in 2005.

Caught several 3+ lbs smallies in that area when we've been up there. I also caught a smallie just under 5 lbs in the Dahlgren River just off the Boulder River. cyclones30	04/07/2018 09:48PM We were there on a week trip a few years ago on the same date. Find moving water and you'll find all species. Hard to say what the late spring will do. It snowed on us the last day of May on that trip. Ended up being 60 the last few.

bwcadan	04/05/2018 08:56PM A late ice out will likely leave water colder on June 1. But ice on june 1 is highly unlikely. The effect on fishing , I do not know.
BAKA	04/05/2018 08:51PM I took my younger brother up to Agnes on his first bwca trip very end of May, 2016. We base camped at campsite 1803. We targeted walleye and the action was non-stop right from camp. Unfortunately most were too small to keep but we got enough to eat. Caught some crappie and bass too. Bait used was leeches. I wouldn't think ice out would be an issue by then. I'd suggest maybe calling some of the outfitters in Ely and ask if they know the ice out date from 2013. That was the most recent late ice out year. Water will be chilly!
AndyEck84	04/05/2018 06:22PM Heading up beginning of June at EP #16. Any tips on smallmouth favorite spots for Agnes or LLC? And lots of talk about a potential for late ice out... Would that ever affect the area's fishing as late as June 1? Or is that time always safe?
