02/14/2007 06:22AM Hey cowdoc; do not think that I've been following you, but I'll add my pictures from last October. (Let's hope they never add signs for Fuji picture stops) This year the water levels were moderate. October seven years ago the water levels were extremely low and we had to wade through an acre of mud to access Bottle Portage from LLC. Twenty years ago in June the water levels were very high.

02/12/2007 04:28PM Curtain falls is a great place to go to, a group of us went there last summer, definitely don't try to canoe along the sides, just head straight for the island, its pretty strong pull and I don't recommend trying to swim across the top of it, lot of under tow |

02/12/2007 12:18PM I went one year with extrememly high water to Rebecca Falls. Please go there, it is truly awesome. But even more important to be careful and head for the center of the island. Make sure that the people you are with have clear direction to head straight to the center of the island and to pay attention when approaching. We had no problems, but in retrospect, after seeing the falls, I realize how crucial it is that people are aware of what they are getting into. If you got into the current of the falls, there would be no going back, and the result would be severe to say the least. |

02/10/2007 04:43PM I was up that way last Aug. Take the long portage out of Agnes then take bottle portage to the falls. We paddled through the rapids all the way up to the falls. I do not reccomend this practice but we have experience in this kind of thing and we were very careful. fishing below the falls was fantastic. |

02/10/2007 02:28PM I was there on a late August trip during a low water year and walked half way across Curtain Falls. Rebecca was pretty sad looking to that trip. I've seen them both in all their roaring spendor, but my wife hadn't. If I ever find the pix of me standing half way across, I'll scan and post it. |

02/10/2007 09:01AM I'd have to agree that the best way to go is from LLC south to Gebe, Rocky, Oyster, and out Oyster River to Moose River. I did the loop from entry 16 to Little Indian sioux, through Hustler, Ruby, Lynx, Shell and if you like lots of solitude and long portages that way is for you. |

02/10/2007 08:59AM If you go through Oyster in late May,troll some shad raps or whatever you have that is silvery for the Lakers that will be in shallow that time of year. Mooseplums and I had a blast on Oyster a few years back. No walleyes on Oyster however.NP,SM and T. |

02/10/2007 08:29AM Arkansas man, I've only been to Curtain in July or August. When was that picture taken? Spots that I stand on to fish are under water. It really looks like a whole different place when the water levels change. Especially the pool beneath the falls. |

02/09/2007 08:30PM I did this trip three years ago. I say come south from Gebe, Green, Rocky, Oyster, and down and out the Oyster. The river was a little high when we went down but we saw people struggling with parts were we got out no problem. It was very easier in the part where the river broke into a grassy delta like region. The current led us right through were others were getting confused with the route. We heard a number of people say they wished they were going the other way. |

02/09/2007 08:25PM I hope to try that this year (about June 13). It looks like it will save time going out. If not the portage to Agnes is a nice one but I think it may be longer than what the map says. It comes out at that nice sandy beach so you can soak your head before reloading. As hot and dry as last JUne was I don't think we could have done it. I'll check with outfitter. |

02/09/2007 05:56PM Troutchief, I did that route years ago but went from LLC to Pocket Creek to Gebe and down to Oyster. It's a great area and not so heavily traveled as most others. You should have a great trip. Bogwalker, I will be in that area again in early July and was planning on leaving Oyster Lake by way of Oyster River. Sounds like I'd best check water levels with the outfitter before we put-in, huh? |

02/09/2007 01:56PM Agree with cowdoc Moose River is the best entry point. Take the long portage out of Agnes into Oyster river-don't be fooled into going up the Oyster river out of Moose river-usually unless water is hi that will be a tough way to go. Don't forget to look for the pictos on Rocky-west shore near the south end. Because you are going up hill from Iron to curtain you do not need to worry about the current. You wil be safe as the falls go donw into Iron from Crooked. Rebecca Falls be careful and I land on the island in the middle of the split. you do not want to get caught up into this current-the ride down would be quite unpleasant. |

02/09/2007 12:43PM Thanks for the info. I'm going in May 31st out of #16. I've heard this entry point is quite popular so I was considering traveling through Oyster and Gebe to get off the beaten path. Based on river currents and portaging is it better to run Oyster up to Gebe or visa versa? |

02/09/2007 12:22PM I'm going that way in June. Skipping the falls this year and going up LLC to Pocket, then down to Gebe and Oyster. If I was to view the falls from ep 16 I'd go up thru LLC to Bottle portage, to Iron, hit Rebecca then Curtain. You can make that a day trip then head back west to do your Oyster, Gebe thing. You can go west out of Agnes to Oyster then up to Gebe or do the up and around loop on LLC like I'm doing. When ya goin? |

02/09/2007 12:03PM What's the best (safest) route to get to a viewing point for Curtain and Rebecca falls. Also, if anyone has traveled from the Moose river over to Oyster and up to Gebe I would be interested in hearing how that was and what would be the best direction to travel that area. Thanks. |
