HansSolo	05/10/2013 11:48AM You might consider going into Duncan Lake via Bearskin Lake, (Entry Point #60.) After you portage' 75 rods from Bearskin to Duncan, you could then base camp on Duncan Lake and take day trips out to Rose Lake. (This would be similar to what you did on your trip to Disappointment Lake.) The Border Route Trail passes right through the North side of Duncan Lake and intersects with the portage' to Rose Lake, also known as the "Stairway Portage". A small creek, which drops from Duncan Lake to Rose lake, creates a rather scenic waterfall and makes for a natural shower. Just leave your soap at the campsite though. :-) There's also some beautiful views of the Canadian shore that can be viewed from the Border Route Trail from high above the southwest shore of Rose Lake. The scenery in this area is some of the best in the BWCAW IMHO. If you and your crew are up to it, you could do a loop trip through Rose Lake, Daniels Lake, and back to Bearskin Lake. Unfortunately, that loop involves a portage' of 524 rods from Rose Lake to Daniels Lake, but it's not as bad as it sounds. The portage' trail actually follows an old railroad grade and is virtually flat all the way to Daniels Lake. I did the aforementioned loop in one afternoon, but to be fair, I only had a small day pack and I single portaged. Still, I consider it easily do-able if you have a weekend or more. Then again, if you or your group hates portaging, then back-tracking to Bearskin Lake from Duncan Lake may be your best option. As far as fishing, I can't really say. I don't fish much, and the times I've traveled through the region, I didn't bother to pack a rod and reel. Hopefully other members may be able to provide more insight as to the fishing opportunities if you'd decide to travel into the Duncan Lake area. Hans Solo

Inspector13, I believe you meant to say that Johnson Falls is on the WEST end of Pine Lake. Also, another way that a person can access Pine Lake is from the east via McFarland Lake which is off the Arrowhead Trail.

dmpaul	05/09/2013 02:32PM I sure love all the input & still anxious on receiving more. I would really like to know which entry point gets me to the Louisa Falls & the Devil's bathtub, the name turned my brides head on a dime so I better find out. :) The other that seems to be an overall favorite is the Johnson Falls. With a slow start of the season, I have a feeling the permits are getting filled pretty quickly for June, so I had better find the right entry points to pursue... I have a feeling that the falls this spring, early summer will be everso powerful with amount of moisture received as compared to years past....

dmpaul	05/09/2013 12:57PM Looking at heading back to God's country again in June. I have been to the bdub quite a few times but last year was my bride's maiden voyage as well as another couple. They all fell in love with the country. Last year, we stayed on Disappointment Lake for the duration, even though the fishing was a disappointment, the environment & the weather cooperated just perfect. While there, we paddled up to see the Cattyman Falls, and we were all very glad that we did. It was definately a landmark worth making the trip to see. So this year we would like to enter a different entry point that we can stay & also have the option to take a day trip to go see another set of Falls, any suggestions out there?
