Borderland Lodge is located 45 miles up Minnesota’s historic Gunflint Trail. Our quiet, out-of-the way resort is here to help you get the most out of your time away.

We are a small, family-owned resort nestled on the northwest corner of majestic Gunflint Lake, a 4,000 acre lake straddling the Canadian border. The property sits on over 500 feet of granite shoreline with four cabins, three lodge rooms, and weekend dining to the backdrop of exceptional views of Gunflint Lake and the High Cliffs Palisade.

Borderland Lodge is open year round. Here you can explore the wild boreal northwoods, make lasting memories with your favorite people, or simply unplug in some of the world’s most pristine wilderness. Our warm and friendly team is here to help you feel at home. Enjoy incredible hiking, wildlife viewing, fishing, cross country skiing, mountain biking, snowmobiling, canoeing, and more just outside your cabin door!

Our cabins are updated and pet-friendly, featuring fully stocked kitchens, wood stoves, and propane grills. Each cabin has parking for two vehicles and one trailer, with some cabins featuring space for additional vehicles and trailers. Second story lodge rooms feature floor-to-ceiling lake views as well as a shared balcony perfect for sipping wine and watching the sun set.

Lodging guests and the public can enjoy scratch-made dining with unbeatable lake views. From double burgers and braised sandwiches to fresh pasta and dishes utilizing local and foraged ingredients – your crew can enjoy a meal directly inspired by the surrounding Northwoods.
