01/29/2018 10:59AM I really don't understand why Canadian websites are so confusing to me. I just got some permits last week and it took forever. |

01/27/2018 07:00PM Actually the whole reason I'm going to this area is on your advice QueticoMike :) Looks like a fairly easy portage into Cirrus too. Not such great fishing there though? Quetico just seemed like a natural step for a guy who is coming all the way from California anyway, and only ever uses flies and plugs. All plans are locked and loaded; even called the White Otter Inn this morning to set up the all-important post-trip room (shower). |

01/27/2018 03:37PM If you want to catch the Grand Slam ( walleye, pike, lake trout and smallmouth ) make your way down to Jean Lake. |

01/27/2018 08:31AM Sounds great, thanks guys. I'm going to plan for nine days on the water around the solstice. Psyched! |

01/27/2018 05:51AM Yes it is kind of a confusing. So don't feel bad about it. As DentonDoc stated is correct. You will love entry in there and into Quetico lake and the surrounding area. The portage from Beaverhouse over to Quetico lake is very easy and flat. Also the one from the Beaverhouse parking lot to the lake is flat and easy. |

01/26/2018 09:35PM Your exit date will be established based on the number of nights you pay a camping fee for (plus one for your exit date). You'll pay your camping fee (less deposit) when you check in at a ranger station (e.g. Atikokan.) Quetico (or Cirrus) is a legit entry for Beaverhouse. dd |

01/26/2018 08:45PM This is probably not the smartest question ever posted, but I'll own up to that :) I *think* I just got myself a backcountry permit via the Canada parks website. However, the user interface left me with a couple of key questions: * I gave an entry date, but no exit. Is this determined when I show up at Atikokan and ask for ten nights? Or did I only get one day? * There was a dropdown list of entry points, but no "Beaverhouse Lake." So I picked "Quetico." Will that work for an entry at Beaverhouse? I'm really excited for the trip. Went to the Basswood Lake area on the US side last year, and for a guy who grew up fishing Maine and has recently been stoked on Alaska, it was perfect. But since I only fish with flies and artificials, why not try Quetico? I'm a pessimist, so I do try to cross all the T's and dot all the I's -- especially when leaving the country. Please help me out with my stupid questions :) |
