05/28/2018 08:37AM The link that cowdoc posted gives good and pretty accurate info. I used to spend a lot of time on Kawishiwi as I would take my FIL to the campground every year because he loved the bwca but for health reasons could only do a campground. I have stepped foot on every site on Kawishiwi at one time or another even though I've only camped at one of the bwca sites. The two sites rated a 2 are definitely the bottom 2 sites on the lake. 1007 (island site where cowdoc stayed) would be my 1st choice for a basecamp solo because it's away from other sites and where you would most likely have the least amount of traffic passing by. 1008 only has one rating and it's a 3, but imo it's the nicest site on the lake. But you can see and hear 2 other sites from it. |

05/27/2018 09:36PM Not sure where you looked, but in the Maps section, for Kawishiwi Lake, all the campsites have comments. I've stayed at the island site, 1007, and I thought it was a pretty decent site. Looks like 1009 got good reviews also. Kawishiwi Lake click on the red dot(s) and click on "view camp details" in the pop up box |

05/27/2018 07:41PM On a somewhat spontaneous note, I've decided to go to Kawishiwi Lake June 9 and basecamp solo for a few days. I've looked into the BWCA campsite database, but there is information on only two of the seven campsites (1012 and 1006), and even that is limited. Can anyone shed any light as to the campsites on Kawishiwi Lake? I've be there for four nights. Thanks Mike |
