It has been a few years, the easiest way I found was to walk on the east side of the creek, put in to the pond at the top of the beaver dam, paddle until you see the portage which starts up again on the west of the stream/pond again. It was really obvious the last time I went through there in 15 or 16. Then it is pretty dry from there.

The picture is the portage from Crooked to Argo. The green line is the portage I took last time I was through there, it runs along the western side of the creek, along a cliff. I understand that there is an easier portage on the east side of creek.

so are you saying the portage from the south doesn't originate from a lake?

Does anybody have a GPS track of the portage into Argo from the south? Specifically the portage on the east side of that area. The west side portage goes along a cliff. Or, is the east side portage easy to find?
