Appreciate the info, thank you. I'll check it out.

I've stayed on Chad lake twice, at the NW site. Sounds like the other site is better but we loved the NW one. You'll enjoy that area and the solitude that goes with it. I've heard good things about Pine lake as well. We didn't think the portage to Buck was worth it. Little Trout is okay.

treehorn,

Thanks for the heads up, I should have noticed that, but I missed it.

I may be telling you information you are well aware of, but just thought I would mention Trout Lake is a motorized lake. Anything you portage to from there will be paddle only though.

walllee, thanks for the info, very helpful! I've been up to Caribou, Horseshoe, Vista from Morgan. Also love that area, but trying somewhere a little different. I was looking at the map, looks like the best place to launch might be from Mud Creek Rd, those back channels should be a bit sheltered. Interesting that you mentioned a couple of those lakes, Chad, Pine. I was thinking possibly checking out those lakes East of Trout.

No recent info, but been to the area many times. Great fishing and solitude in that area. We usually try to camp on Buck, one of my favorite fishing lakes in the BWCA. I believe there is only one campsite on Buck. Chad and Western are also beautiful lakes with outstanding fishing. I’m not a bass man, but Chad has some dandy Largemouth . Pine is also a Great Lake. Some beautiful campsites , and a pretty easy portage from Trout. I would recommend getting a tow across Vermilion. It can get pretty rough at times. I would probably stay away from Oriniac. I have heard it gets hit pretty hard during winter. People enter from the north off a logging road that is off the Echo Trail.

Hi all, planning a trip end of June or so.. Looking at Trout Lake and the few surrounding lakes. Anyone have any recent information? fishing? campsite recommendations? There will be a group, 4 of us.

Thanks!
