flynn: "cyclones30: "flynn: "That route you've got up there looks pretty awesome. Loved all the elevation in that area. It keeps it from feeling like being on generics lake surrounded by a level treeline.

As for me, I can't stop buying tackle. Entry point is finalized for my group, EP16 first week of June, up to Boulder Bay or Lady Boot Bay (depending on wind), then down to Iron, and back out the Moose River. Focusing hard on fishing, looking to catch a hawg laker on LLC and slam the smallies everywhere. Hoping the water isn't tooooo coold... if it's like last year, we might miss ice out by only 2 weeks... water is gonna be pretty cold if that's the case. At least the lakers would be shallow!"

It's hard to see in the pic but we have past routes in blue, along with roads we took. We did 16 to LLC and Iron and back a few years ago. I think I have a trip report on it. Very cool trip, we would have done parts of it again this year as plan B if the black route doesn't happen "

I just read your report like a week ago. Thanks for sharing it! I'll be going in basically at the exact same time so it was helpful for setting expectations. I really want to fish Curtain Falls for a good few hours but one of the guys in my group went to LLC once and ever since we started talking about maybe doing LLC/Iron instead of Iron/Crooked, now it's looking like 90% of our time will be spent on LLC... I'll see Crooked someday :'("

If you want to send me an email I'll let you know my thoughts on fishing that area.

We recently discovered Flat-out Flatbread. The one linked here is just one of a variety of flavors, including some in a figure-8 (?) shape which is supposedly easier to fold in half. We like them vs other tortilla wraps as they are thicker and stand up to folding or rolling much better. And they don't dry out, even after 3-4 days.
"

They also make excellent thin crust pizzas. Preheat any sauce you're using. Heat the pizzas when ready on a hot griddle or pan over a fire, cover them with a lid or foil to melt the cheese, and be ready with a spatula. If you like lots of sauce and/or toppings, you might want to double up on the flatbread. I don't have a reflector oven, but they're a natural for that.

That sounds amazing. I've been trying to think about what I crave, so as to have a "to bring" list for them to grab fresh. On the list: Concentrated Orange Juice to make a giant jug, frozen home-made burgers with buns to cook that night, a fresh apple, a Snickers bar. Maybe a plastic growler of beer. I would imagine she will also bring clean underwear and a new t-shirt ;)

Yep - we usually bring tortillas, though my son is gluten free and the corn or gf ones aren't that great for making sandwhiches and such. I think, except for the first night, I'll be making a bunch of evening meals that are similar to Mountain House but with homemade ingredients. I've started using more freeze-dried stuff, even though it is a little pricey the flavor and texture are great. I've used and adapted several from this site, which are great: thruEAT

Other than that, lots of shelf-stable bacon, hashbrowns, oatmeal for breakfasts; gorp, bars, summer sausage and cheese, dried fruits for lunches. I'm just obsessing. There are a lot of us, it is a long trip, and I always want to get it right. Keeping excel sheets and taking notes after from the last two years has helped.

Flynn: we'll be coming in that EP a week later, but then heading across Crooked and then out Mudro. Can't wait. Maybe I can hit you up for a fishing report on your way out...hoping for a Grand slam.

I'm currently obsessing over my menu. 11-12 days with my brother and our two sons, then joined in the end by my wife and the girls...so I have 16 days or so of meals to figure out."

I just solidified the entry point with my group this past weekend Scott, was going to catch up with you. I will definitely hit you up - we're exiting June 8th so hopefully we have enough time to relay my tips! For food we'll be doing it pretty simple I think. Dehydrated meals for dinner, mix between dehydrated stuff, meat/cheese, jerky/gorp/dried fruit for lunch, and probably oatmeal/lunchstuff for breakfast. We do have 4 people this year instead of 3 last year so we are bringing larger pots and pans and we'll be multi-base-camping (3-4 nights at 2 sites probably) so we might bring more stuff to actually cook, but that takes work and weighs more!! Mountain House hasn't let me down yet."

Hey there! - forgot your handle was flynn! I'll be looking out for a message from you after the trip, lol, and I'll let you know if I nail down some of those shuttle details we were talking about.

VoyageurNorth: my wife and the girls will be bringing a refresh of food, for sure! But I'll still have to be planning and packing the meals, lol.

Will your wife be bringing in food for the last 4-5 days or will you be bringing it all in with you?

Sitting here working from home and look up and see our wall map. Fun to draw on with dry erase.....just waiting to re-reserve the permit I already had. Planning our next possible routes to cover more new areas.

I guess I'll keep buying random pieces of gear I don't really need, debating if I can make it to copia, and more. You?
