03/16/2019 11:20AM +1 on the Stensaas flora book. "Lichens of the North Woods" by Joe Walewski. This is a field guide book with color photos. "Birds of Minnesota Field Guide" by Stan Tekiela. It has color photos. Here's an offbeat recommendation, not strictly limited to BWCA/Quetico wildlife: "A Field Guide to Animal Tracks" by Olaus J. Murie. It has drawings of tracks and scat, including dimensions. Here is a link to printed material including photographs about pictographs: Pictographs |

03/16/2019 07:51AM I found Stensaas’ Canoe Country Flora and Canoe Country Widlife books provided good overviews of their topics. There is a link to the first in the Books section of this web site. |

03/16/2019 07:18AM Hello again! I'm trying to find a few books or web sources for us to use and read up on during our upcoming trip. Can you recommend anything that would aid in wildlife/flora identification in BWCA/Quetico? We're also looking for anything on general history and pictographs. Thanks! |
