In June, my “Quetico food stamp” is a #7 Rapala tail dancer in perch. I take 5 every trip, and fish with a titanium leader. If I don’t lose one, they are beat up in 3 days or less.

Be sure to take a couple wally divers... in case jigs don't work!

bobbernumber3: "Our group will also be in Quetico the first week of June. We have our best luck in June with a jig and twister tail for walleyes. Seems to us that wally divers work better in August... like the walleyes are looking for a larger meal. Slow and small works better, it seems, post-spawn."

This. We find the same thing. WD's will always work, as will other crankbaits, but the trick is to find them and then slay them with jigs. From July on the crankbaits will come in to their own more( but jigs are still good). You will find a lot of larger walleye suspended in mid summer and trolling WD's, Frenzy Flicker Shad's, Shad Raps, etc. can be deadly.

On bright sunny days, try hot colors such as chartreuse, orange, yellow, firetigre, etc.

Just try to match the main forage base. If it’s Perch, you’ll be fine with Perch like colors. If it’s a lake with a large Cisco population you will want to look at colors in white, pearl, blue , gray colors.

I have used Wally Divers and done ok. I struggle to know the best color. It seems like perch has been the best. We are going first week of June in Quetico. Any suggestions?
